Occupational therapy is the use of therapeutic exercises and activities to address factors that impact a patient’s functionality with their everyday activities in order to promote their participation in various roles and situations at home, in the community, at school, at work, and in numerous other settings. It addresses the physical aspects of performance as well as the cognitive, psychological, habitual, and other aspects.
At Advanced Care Physical Therapy, we can address fractures of the hand or arm, surgical repairs, and acquired conditions such as arthritis, rotator cuff tears, and carpal tunnel syndrome, as well as various other conditions of the upper extremities.
Our occupational services include:
Evaluation of factors affecting participation with daily activities such as body factors like pain and injury, as well as habits, routines, and the person’s environment
Developing interventions to establish or restore the patient’s skills and making recommendations for the modification or adaptation of activities or the
environment to enhance performance and/or prevent further or repeat injury
Therapeutic exercises and activities to address body factors affecting performance
Educating and training individuals in various home exercises and activities to empower them to take control of their own journey to wellness and promote carry over from sessions at the clinic to home
